Wageningen University & Research has carried out a lot of research into alternative feedstocks for paper production. Used clothing is recycled and used as input for paper production. The produced boards can be used for sound insulation and are produced by Schut Papier.
What’s next
The product is already being used commercially on a small scale. Optimisation of the recycling process of the clothing industry is necessary to make sufficient virgin textile fibres available for this application.
